I live in one.)<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align:center;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-7556780023981522\";\n\/* Content Ad - Horizontal *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"5637015964\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 60;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\nsrc=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Signage<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>Signage must conform to the residential signage requirements set forth inPart 4 of Chapter 23.04 of Title 23.<\/p>\n<p>In other words <strong>1 foot by 1 foot<\/strong>&#8230; pretty dinky sign.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Business Vehicles<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>A <strong>maximum of one (1) business vehicle<\/strong> with a manufacturer&#8217;s gross vehicle weight of<strong> less than 10,000 pounds<\/strong> is permitted to be kept, garaged or parked on the lot or parcel associated with the home occupation.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Clients<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>A<strong> maximum of two (2) clients at a time<\/strong> are permitted at the dwelling.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Employees and Assistance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>Only <strong>occupants of the dwelling may be employees or unpaid volunteers<\/strong> of the business or commercial activity.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Environmental Constraints<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>There shall be<strong> no obnoxious odors, vibrations, glare, fumes, dust, electrical interference or noise<\/strong> detectable by normal human sensory perception outside the dwelling or through vertical or horizontal party walls.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hours of Operations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>Clients are permitted at the residence only between the hours of <strong>9 o&#8217;clock a.m. and 9 o&#8217;clock p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Location<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <em>Dwelling Unit<\/em><\/strong> (your house)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home occupations, including storage, are permitted in the dwelling unit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Accessory Building<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home occupations, including storage, are limited to one hundred (100) square feet of floor area in an accessory building provided any required parking provided in the accessory building is retained and accessible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Attached Garage<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home occupations are permitted in an attached garage provided the required parking is retained and accessible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Carports<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home occupations are not permitted in carports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Yard Areas<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home Occupations are not permitted in yard areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Manufacture or Assembly<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>No manufacture or assembly, other than hand-crafted products, ispermitted.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sales<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>The direct sale of products off display shelves or racks to the general public is prohibited; however, an order may be filled on the premises if placed earlier by a customer using telephone or mail order communications, or through attendance at an off-site sales party.<\/p>\n<h2>Prohibited Home-based Businesses in San Jose:<\/h2>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Animal breeding.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Appliance repair, other than the repair of small household appliances, as defined in Section 20.200.550.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Firearm sales and service.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Motorized garden tool repair, such as, but not limited to, lawnmowers, chainsaws, \u00a0and leaf blowers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Massage parlor, as provided in Part 1 of Chapter 20.80 of this Title, and the business of massage as provided in Section 6.44.010, Subsection A, of Chapter 6.44 of Title 6.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Pest control.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Upholstery and furniture repair.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Food catering.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Vehicle-related uses such as, but not limited to, the following: storage of vehicles, cleaning, dismantling, embellishment, installation, manufacture, repair or service, sale, lease or rental, towing, driving schools, and dispatching of vehicles located at the site.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Welding.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Any use which requires a Hazardous Materials Permit from the Fire Department.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Any Off-Sale of Alcohol.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;\">Any other use which does not comply with each of the criteria provided in Table 20-160.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Advantages<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>You can write off the exclusively and regularly used part of your home for your business divided by the total square footage of the home.
